Overview

The SMC6824M is a feature-rich, high-performance switch that enables you to realize your network’s full potential by migrating your network to Gigabit speed. It has 24 10/100 Mbps ports and two slots for 100BASE-FX or 1000BASE-X expansion modules. It also has a non-blocking architecture that enables optimal wire-speed network processing. The SMC6824M can be stacked 8 units high via stacking modules, allowing up to 192 Fast Ethernet ports to be managed as a single unit. Advanced features include port- or protocol-based and tagged VLANs, support for automatic GVRP VLAN registration for traffic security and efficient use of network bandwidth, QoS priority queuing for minimum delay of real-time multimedia data across the network, onboard IGMP snooping to prevent flooding of IP multicast traffic, and LACP to facilitate linking aggregation. A reliable and secure networking environment is guaranteed with RADIUS, SSH, SSL, and HTTPS (which keeps the network secure from unauthorized users) and RMON traps (which alert the presence of intruders in system).
