Sapphire Radeon HD 5550 1GB DDR2 HDMI is one of a few Sapphire Graphics Processing Units for desktop market. Based on ATI Radeon HD 5550 GDDR3, and produced using 40 nm technology, the GPU employs TeraScale 2 Unified Processing architecture. The card has graphics clocked at 550 MHz. Furthermore, it has 320 stream processors, 16 texture units, and 8 color ROPs. The Radeon HD 5550 1GB DDR2 HDMI embeds 1 GB of DDR2 memory. The memory utilizes 128 bit interface, and runs at 400 MHz. This allows the card to have 12.8 GB/s memory bandwidth. The GPU supports PCI Express 2.1 interface, and needs 2 slots on the motherboard. Like the reference design, this model has the maximum power consumption of 39 Watt. The Sapphire Radeon HD 5550 1GB DDR2 HDMI is compatible with crossfire technology, and will perform considerably better in games when paired with a similar graphics unit.
